THE WORLDLY FEATURED ARTIST

MIKKEL GERKEN

BIO
Disclaimer: Despite being The Worldly’s “artist of the month” I am no artist. The point bears repeating: I’m not an artist. In other words, art is not what I do. I like art. I like it a lot. But I am not an artist. I am not even a photographer. I do, however, take photographs. I take them for fun. Sometimes I take them if it can serve a good cause. Sometimes I take them for money. But I mostly take them for fun. And when I take them for money, I quickly convert the money into fun. So, to conclude, I take photographs for fun.

I am a philosopher by trade. As opposed to most philosophers, I have been sufficiently out and about to be regarded as ‘worldly.’ To counter excessive philosophizing, I tend to reserve photography as an anti-intellectual way to approach any given (photographable) subject matter. My approach is eclectic and opportunistic. The present selection consists of ten worldly photos.

To see more of my more-or-less worldly photographs, you may want to check out my MySpace.
